Butch Ward Memorial Tournament

Jim Kline Apr 3rd, 2010

On April 4, 2010 the 11th Annual Memorial Tournament in memory of our dear friend, Butch Ward, was held at the Riverfront Campgrounds on the Susquehanna River.  Thirty-eight teams registered the morning of the tournament.  The anglers found the river level to be a little over eight feet and a temperature of 54°.

But that didn’t stop the contestants from breaking two records this year.  The number of keepers over eighteen inches checked in is now fifty-one.  Wow!  And the big fish record is now a whopping 6 lb. 11 oz.  Awesome!

The team of Cannon/Good took first place with 13 lb. 9 oz.  They also had the 6 lb. 11 oz. smallie for lunker.  Second place went to Droneburg/Droneburg with 13 lb. 6 oz.  Third place went to Stoner/Schmitt with 12 lb. 7 oz.   Fourth place went to Rude, Jr./Malott with 12 lb. 4 oz.  Fifth place went to Rosenberry/Bitner with 12 lb. 1 oz.  And sixth place went to Payne/Van Metre with 12 lb.

Total weight for the tournament was 205 lb. 11 oz.  Rodney Melott won the 50/50 raffle.  All the proceeds of $870.00 from the tournament was again put into the Butch Ward Scholarship Fund.

Thanks to all those who came out for this special tournament.  And special thanks to John and Eric for all they do.
