2010 Jr. World Qualifier

           This tournament was held on July 18th on the Lower Potomac and hosted by The Central Region.  At stake were two spots on the adult State Team and a trip to the Mid-Atlantic Divisional Championship to be held on the Nanticoke River.

            There was only one limit of five fish brought to the scales.  Michael Nutter dominated the field of contestants with 9 lb. 14 oz. and will represent the 11-14 age group at the Divisionals for Maryland.   Tanner Craig took 2nd place with 4 lb. 12 oz.  and the lunker weighing 3 lb. 3 oz.  Third place went to Chris Decker with 4 lb. 3 oz.

            Johnny Duarte, last year’s Mid-Atlantic Divisional Champion and Jr. World Champion in the 11-14 age group, moved up into the older age group (15-18) this year.  His three fish, weighing 5 lb. 14 oz., took first place and earned him his second trip to the Divisionals.  He also had lunker with 3 lb. 4 oz.  Second place went to Jessie Colie with 3 lb. 1 oz.  Third place went to Ray Cleveland with 2 lb. 9 oz.

            Awards were presented; Bass Pro gift cards were given to all youth contenders and boat captains.  A cook-out followed the weigh-in.  Special thanks to the boat captains, and also to Tom Rollins and Mike Day for seeing that the tournament went well.
